The GIO Award represents the best that the Netherlands has to offer in the field of industrial product design. It pertains to products that are not only relevant (adding value where something is lacking, offering a solution to a real problem) but also innovative and/or original, exceptionally well-designed, designed in the Netherlands, by a Dutch designer or for a Dutch company, and not older (in terms of market introduction) than 2 years
